Putting a twist on our classic Soybean Tempeh, Angie’s Chickpea Tempeh is a truly natural plant-based protein that is made of quality organic Chickpea.
The organic Chickpea Tempeh is one of our most fragrant tempeh, with some of our reviews saying the tempeh smells like a freshly baked baguette because of the fermented fragrance it brings! When cooked, taste a hint of nutty flavour with every bite. Fry, steam, stew. The possibilities are endless!
Ingredients
Organic chickpeas, culture (Rhizopus oligosporous), filtered water
Size Options
Available in 200g.
Delivery
Free delivery for orders above $50. Islandwide delivery at $8 for orders below $50.
Storage and Handling
Angie recommends cooking the tempeh within 1 week from delivery, storing it in the chiller at 0-4°C.
For longer storage, pop the tempeh in the freezer (-12°C and below). Thaw the tempeh in the chiller for 1-2 hours and cook it immediately after.
I love this most! It’s textual is so multi layered & fragrant.
Just lightly fried, salt it, tastes so good! Thank you, this is definitely my fav. My senior, frail dog who doesn’t eat much nowadays, totally loves it! Thank you 🙏🏻
I’m glad that the tempeh was so warmly received by your frail dog :) this is one of the most encouraging things I have heard about how my tempeh has helped with diets. Thank you for sharing Griet

Chickpea Tempeh
My favourite tempeh is still Soybean; Chickpea texture is slightly dry & the taste is acquired (perhaps just my own tasting preference)

Great substitute for meat
I used it to replace the chicken in my buah keluak dish. Turned out very well. Will do it again.

High Level of Sodium
Not really a review but I wonder why no one ever brought up the fact that these tempeh contains relatively high level of sodium. Wonder why? Chickpea tempeh itself is 1,000mg per 100g. For reference, anything above 400mg per 100g in food is considered high sodium. Hope Seller can provide explanation for this. Thank you.
Hello! Yes, it was a typo error for the level of Sodium. We sent our Chickpea Tempeh to the lab and it tested for 1.01mg of sodium for every 100g serving, which means it is low in sodium!
Thank you for bringing up this topic!

Good plant based protein
This chickpea tempeh is one of my favorite! It smells original yet with a unami smell. Hope it becomes my regular plant based protein and having more recipe to turn this into different variety

The satay marinade makes this such an addictive snack on its own! It is super easy to prepare. After thawing, just 15 minutes in an 180 degrees celsius oven. I made a sandwich with it and it is divine.
The marinated tempeh satay is good to eat even on its own without satay sauce. Each stick has 2 pieces equivalent to the size of 2 sticks of meat satay. So having 6 sticks for lunch was way too much. Glad I tried this.
