Storage and Handling

Storage and Handling

Angie recommends cooking the tempeh within 1 week from delivery, storing it in the chiller at 0-4°C.

For longer storage, pop the tempeh in the freezer (-12°C and below). Thaw the tempeh in the chiller for 1-2 hours and cook it immediately after.

Here’s why people are loving Angie’s Tempeh

Organic, Non-GMO, and Minimal ingredients

Angie’s Tempeh is made only from two ingredients: certified organic and non-GMO beans (soybeans, chickpeas or adzuki beans) and culture. We keep it grain-free and do not use fillers such as flours or starches in our tempeh. Our tempeh is deliciously simple.

Handmade with love in Singapore

Angie’s Tempeh is handmade in small batches using traditional, time-tested methods. We follow a meticulous process of sourcing, splitting, dehulling, cooking, inoculating, incubating and packaging. Each batch is made with care and pride to ensure a quality product.

Delivered Fresh, Warm and Unpasteurised

Angie’s Tempeh is fresh and unpasteurised, meaning it is alive, and retains its natural tender texture and earthy flavour. The tempeh delivered to you is at its peak freshness - right out from the incubator. This is why the tempeh you receive may still feel warm to the touch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Place your order online at www.angiestempeh.com/collections/tempeh

We only take pre-orders for tempeh due to the stringent time schedule for fermentation and living nature of the product.

This heat means that your tempeh is fresh! The heat is an internally generated heat that is produced within the tempeh when it is still growing. I deliver all the tempeh fresh upon making it. When you receive your order, it is still alive and growing. The warmness of tempeh is a sign of freshly made unpasteurised tempeh - something not commonly found in supermarkets. You do not need to have to wait for it to cool down before refrigerating it or freezing it. Freeze it after delivery to preserve it in it freshest state. It will last for months frozen, I use 3 months as a guideline.

❄️ FOR COOKING WITHIN 1 WEEK FROM DELIVERY: store in chiller (0 degree C to 4 degree C)⠀

❄️ TO LAST FOR 3 MONTHS MINIMUM: store in freezer (-12 degree C and below)⠀

⭐️ TO THAW FROM FROZEN: put in chiller (0-4 degree C) to thaw for 1-2 hr. Cook immediately after thawing

The small holes are to allow in oxygen for the mould to breathe during fermentation; it is an aerobic fermentation process.

The soft white mass is the mycelium of the Rhizophus mould. As the mould feeds on the substrate (bean), the mycelium spreads and grows in and around each bean. This mycelium network is what holds the individual beans together to form a cake-like consistency.

Subscription

My mum and I love Angie’s Temoeh, but not all in the family. It will be good if the subscription could be changed to every two month which will save the delivery and yet make the tempeh available whenever we want.

Being a vegetarian, tempeh has become a delight to me n my favourite ‘staple’.
My cooking method: i go for ‘steaming’ for most of my cooking, as i like to contain the freshness n convenience of cooking. Plus my kitchen is open style, so no frying for me!
And i put all ingredients into a dish n steam
As easy as that.
soy tempeh ( use 1/2 of the packet, chopped into cubes), with ladyfingers, mushrooms, a few cherry tomatoes, 1 garlic (sliced), few slices of ginger n add a teaspoon of olive oil, a teaspoon of sesame oil, soy sauce, pepper, a dash of Tasmania purple seasalt,
Time:10minutes.
Some may feel it’s too bland n tasteless, but to me this is my kind of food n I simply love it. Its actually very healthy n nice.
must credit: Angie’s tempeh is so fresh n yummy too. I have also tried the black bean tempeh. Vary the vegetables too, like asparagus, chinese spinach..
N its 1 healthy dish for my meal, if its for breakfast, just like this, and with my morning cup of coffee n sometimes a treat, like pastry, i am satisfied.
If its for lunch, i may cook some quinoa+rice or mee sua, or tang hoon, n add to it to make it a fuller meal.
I may cook a separate miso or tofu soup. Otherwise i m contented.
Thank you Angie’s tempeh, for making such awesome tempehs. 👏👍💕🌷🙏
